About

In July 2023, just weeks before her mother passed away, Nicola Bird picked up a paintbrush for the first time. What began as a quiet act of solace became a sacred inheritance; her mother’s lifelong love of art passing to her daughter in her final days.

First, there were small strokes of watercolour - soft washes of grief and healing -  which soon turned into something far more elemental.

Colour demanded more body, more pulse.

Acrylics. Oils. Hands. Movement. Music.

The work began to paint her as much as she painted it.

Through loss, something ancient was returned.

Not a new self, but the truest one -  the one buried under years of striving, pleasing, holding it all together.

Every mark became an unlearning.

Every canvas, a reclamation.

Now Nicola paints the raw pulse of the feminine  - not as softness, but as power.

Not to beautify, but to reveal.

Her art doesn’t ask you to become anything.

It reminds you of what you already are - vast, untamed, alive.

It reminds you that you contain multitudes.

Each piece is an invocation to drop the masks, to stand bare, to let every layer be seen.

The tenderness. The rage. The longing. The grace.

Every layer is welcome.

Her pieces alter the air around them.

There is an energetic 'click' when you see yourself in them.

And because creation moves in circles, not lines, each painting extends beyond the studio.

Ten percent of every sale goes to The Hunger Project, ensuring that beauty not only nourishes the soul but feeds lives across the world.

This is not art as decoration.

It is a reclamation of your own wild wholeness.

A mirror held up to the power you already carry.

The art is not asking you to change.

It’s asking you to remember.
