about Nicola

Nicola Bird picked up a paintbrush for the first time at 52, shortly before losing her mother, and discovered something she hadn't expected: first healing, then pure joy.

Her large, layered abstract paintings are shaped by a life fully lived; building businesses, raising children, menopause, reinvention and all the things that come with treading the earth for over five decades.

Some women collect tattoos to mark the moments that changed them. Nicola paints for the women for whom paintings do the same job. The ones who stop, look twice and recognise something of their own story in her art before they can explain why.

10% of all original sales are donated to The Hunger Project - creating a world without chronic hunger.

Happy customers

"Why have I bought two pieces of your work? I like and immensely respect you and your work and want to support you. I love that you are supporting The Hunger Project as their work is also close to my heart. The title and emotion behind the latest piece I invested in (The Mother) resonated especially with mum being in hospital and my own relationship with my kids and being a mum being is so important to me. My painting is an embodiment of that. "

Suzanne Dibble

"When I first saw the original painting, Bold, I just knew 'I want her', but by the time I had messaged you, she had already gone and I was gutted. I was thrilled when I saw that you were releasing them as prints and there was no question, I was going to get that print! She came beautifully packaged and I love her!"

Bernadette Doyle

"The prints are just gorgeous & allowed me to open up & talk about the feminine archetypes with a couple of friends who were over for lunch today who both loved your interpretations ❤️"
